Established in 2012, this 63 acre preserve in Deerfield Township, Mecosta County was received with assistance from the Grand Rapids Community Foundation from the estate of Robert D. Mieras, who wanted the property to be protected as natural space.
Quigley Creek, a tributary of the Little Muskegon River, is a designated trout stream and is popular with small-stream anglers who target its population of native Brook Trout. The stream is bordered by a cedar swamp with upland areas of mature hardwood forest. Watch for wildlife including deer, turkey, porcupine, and songbirds. Barred owls are sometimes seen hunting during daylight. River otter, raccoon, and mink tracks are often spotted on the banks of the creek.
Parking is along the south side of 4 Mile Road, where Quigley Creek crosses, about ½ mile west of 135th Avenue.
