On Saturday, May 23rd, we held a photography event at the Audubon Woods Preserve. Interested photographers met and for two hours, took pictures of whatever grabbed their attention. Each photographer was invited to submit his or her four favorite pictures from the day, and we posted them, initially without identifying the photographers, at the CWC Facebook page and invited people to vote on their favorites. We then later revealed the identities of all the photographers and which pictures they took.
The 40-acre Audubon Woods Preserve presents some interesting challenges for photographers, because it is 100 percent wooded, and therefore there is limited available light. But we think all of the participants came up with interesting and unique pictures that reflected their own individuality, a diversity of impressions from the same two-hour period.
We are happy to report that the gorgeous picture of maple leaves over the Chippewa River, taken by Cathy Murray and shown here as our featured image, received the most votes and was selected as the “People’s Choice.”
Thanks to all the photographers who participated and to our Facebook friends who voted their favorites. We plan to do this again later in the year at a different location.
