SUMMARY:Snowshoe Wildlife Hike at Hall's Lake Natural Area
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday January 23rd at 10:00AM at Hall’s Lake Natural Area. With or without snow we should be able to find lots of evidence of our furred and feathered friends. With a little bit of luck we might find things like an otter slide or spot one of our resident porcupines.\n\nWe only have 18 pairs of snowshoes so if you arrive late you might miss out. If there is not sufficient snow\, we’ll continue this as a regular hike.\n\nDirections to the preserve: http://bit.ly/Halls-Lake-Natural-Area\nShareEmailTwitterFacebookRedditTumblrPinterestLinkedIn

SUMMARY:Invasive Species Removal Work Session
DESCRIPTION:Autumn olive is a shrub native to Asia. It was planted in Michigan to provide wildlife habitat\, to provide food for songbirds and gamebirds\, and to control erosion. It does all of these things\, but it doesn’t play well with others…\n\nAutumn olive is a bully! It spreads like crazy. It crowds out native plants and changes the soil chemistry to reduce competition from other species. It even turns out that the nutritional value of its fruit to birds isn’t that high. Now we have these vast monocultures of a shrub that isn’t all it was advertised to be.\n\nJoin us at one of our Thursday evening work sessions in October as we work to control and eradicate this species on our preserves.\n\nNo experience necessary. We’ll provide the tools and training.\n\nWatch the weather! In the event of rain\, the work session will be canceled.\n\n\nDirections to the preserve: http://bit.ly/SylvanSolacePreserve \nSee Less\n\n\n\nShareEmailTwitterFacebookRedditTumblrPinterestLinkedIn
