DESCRIPTION:Due to the weather forecast\, this event has been cancelled!\n\n\nJoin us for a fall paddle down the Chippewa River.\nMid-October is a great time to be on the river! The crowds of summer are gone. The air is cool but the water is still (relatively) warm. Water levels have gone up from their summer lows.\nThe best part? Fall Colors! Color in the trees\, in the vegetation along the banks\, reflected in the water\, in ribbons of leaves floating in the current… You get the idea!\nPLEASE call ahead to make reservations with Buckley’s (989-772-5437) so they can ensure staffing!\nWe’ll meet at 3PM at Buckley’s Mountainside Canoes for a shuttle to River Road and then paddle back to Buckley’s. Buckley’s has generously agreed to provide rentals for this trip at a greatly discounted rate for current CWC members/donors! Want to bring your own boat? Buckley’s will shuttle it.\nCost: $15/person (payable the day of the paddle) for current CWC members/donors. All others pay regular rental rate.\nPaddling Time: 1.5 – 2 hours\n\nAfter the trip\, hang out with us at Buckley’s for a little while. DESCRIPTION:Join the Chippewa Watershed Conservancy on Thursday\, October 5th 2023 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm for an evening of food\, drinks\, live music\, and fundraising drawings to celebrate and support our mission! \nOne of the highlights of the event will be the annual presentation of the Bob Ball Award (President’s Award) to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the CWC’s mission.  CWC Executive Director Mike LeValley will also give an update on past and current CWC projects. \nThe 2023 Fall Fundraiser will be held at the beautiful Little Flower Barn in Lake Isabella ( a stone’s throw from Bundy Hill and Sylvan Solace Preserves) and will support the annual operating expenses of CWC including our current projects\, preserve stewardship\, and educational programs. \nGuests can enjoy the gorgeous grounds\, backing up to The Pines golf course and including a serene pond and lush gardens\, or enjoy the indoor atmosphere in the large venue barn. Live music and socializing will make for a fun-filled night. SUMMARY:Summer Wildflower Walk @ Peterson Natural Area
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday August 19th\, 2023 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM for a hike at one of the CWC’s underappreciated preserves. Much of the 79-acre Peterson Natural Area is composed of open fields that are perfect for summer wildflowers. We’ll find different species of wildflowers in the wet meadow along the creek that bisects the preserve and in the dry sandy hillsides and swamp near the back of the preserve. Expect to see lots of butterflies and other pollinators!\nAs there are no trails throughout most of the preserve long pants are recommended.\nPeterson Natural Area is located near Big Rapids on the corner of 180th avenue and 11 Mile Road. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, July 21st at 10:00 AM for a summer wildflower walk at Quigley Creek Natural Area in Mecosta County.\n\nThis 63-acre preserve is located on both sides of Quigley Creek (a tributary of the Little Muskegon River). A mixed hardwood-conifer swamp borders the creek on the east and to a lesser extent on the west. Upland areas on both sides of the swamp are dominated by mature hardwood forest.
