Stewardship Sunday – Garlic Mustard Pull
May 8, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join us at Mill Pond Natural Area for our May Stewardship Sunday.
The focus of this event will be pulling invasive garlic mustard plants. Garlic mustard is alleleopathic, meaning it releases chemicals into the soil that inhibit the growth of desired native plants. Each garlic mustard plant has the potential to produce thousands of seeds. Eventually, if left uncontrolled a garlic mustard monoculture is left.
No need to bring anything . We’ll provide gloves and garbage bags.
If you want to take home some of the garlic mustard to cook (saute or make into pesto), bring your own containers.
Parking for this event is at Chipp-A-Waters Park (1403 W. High St., Mt. Pleasant). The preserve is located next to the park.
