Chippewa Watershed Conservancy Hires New Executive Director

The Chippewa Watershed Conservancy (CWC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael James (“Mike”) LeValley as Executive Director. 

A long-time volunteer with the CWC, Mike has served the past two years as a member of the organization’s Board of Directors and currently serves as the Chair of the Lands Committee.   For the past ten years Mike was employed by the Isabella Conservation District as the District’s Education Coordinator.  Mike was previously employed by the City of Mt. Pleasant Parks and Recreation Department and as a Material Maintenance Officer in the United States Army, where he reached the rank of Captain.  Mike is a prior member of the executive board of the Chippewa Valley Audubon Club and is a current member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education. 

The CWC is a nationally accredited land conservancy serving Clare, Gratiot, Isabella, Mecosta, and Montcalm County.  The mission of the CWC is to protect and restore Central Michigan’s land, water, and wildlife resources to improve the quality of life for all.  The Conservancy currently protects more than 5,300 acres including 23 publicly accessible nature preserves and 39 conservation easements on privately-held land.
