Were you there on August 19th for the dedication and celebration of the 100-acre Wakelin and Kathleen McNeel Bundy Hill Preserve? More than 100 people came to share the beautiful day as the Chippewa Watershed Conservancy, Remus Area Historical Society and Wheatland Music Organization joined to offer four nature walks to the top of Bundy Hill, present historical displays and discuss Bundy Station, logging, and the Old Settlers who lived in the area. Toes were tapping to an original song about Bundy Hill and other traditional music performed by Bruce Gartner and Daniel Bracken. Board Member Mike LeValley tirelessly led hikers up the mountain in Mount Pleasant and Pita Pit sandwiches were enjoyed as Linda Harwood, Larry Schaftenaar and John Mitchell spoke to the crowd. Members of the McNeel family drove as far as California and Seattle, Washington to be part of the event. It was a fitting capstone to a grassroots effort to forever preserve this jewel of Isabella County.
